Clinical Case Conference 11 (open)
Working With Gender Non-Conforming/Transgender Youth in Juvenile Justice Residential Settings
Youth with transgenderism who are in juvenile justice settings are at increased risk for abuse, victimization, and unmet health and mental health needs. By law, juvenile justice programs are required to provide appropriate services, safety, and security. Attendees receive important information on assessment, treatment, and management of youth with gender variant identity in juvenile justice settings. Case presentations are used to describe factors important to consider when assessing youth with gender nonconformity, and best practices for treating and managing these youth are discussed. This CCC equips attendees with the information needed to provide and advocate for best practices management and treatment for youth with gender variation.
