Clinical Consultation Breakfast 12 (ticket)
The Joys and Tribulations of Rural Child Psychiatry

The Rural Psychiatry Committee invites you to discuss the opportunities and challenges of working in a rural area. Limited access to medical resources is a big part of the challenge, but other barriers include geography, population density, and ethical, racial, and cultural diversity. With only five percent of child and adolescent psychiatrists living and working in rural areas, it is important to share the issues you face in your practice and receive feedback from others in similar situations. Gain insight into negotiating contracts to practice in a rural setting, become aware of sources of support and the resources available from AACAP, and explore strategies to upgrade the quality of care available while faced with limited clinical and financial recourses.
