Workshop 16 (ticket)
Mentalizing Therapy for Adolescent Self-Harm
Mentalizing-based Treatment (MBT) provides clinicians with a conceptually sound and empirically supported approach to working with adolescents with borderline personality disorder or self-harming behaviors and their families. Participants learn about the mentalizing framework, how to assess mentalizing strengths and impairments, and how mentalization theory translates into effective practices. Through hands-on practice specific psychotherapuetic skills, designed to engage self-harming adolescents, participants learn core techniques in family and individual interventions that increase mentalizing capacity for better communication and problem solving.
