Tourette's Disorder and Related Disorders

Despite advances in behavioral therapy and pharmacotherapy, management of tics and comorbid conditions remains difficult in many cases. This SIG provides an opportunity to share clinical experiences and discuss dilemmas in the understanding and treatment of Tourette's syndrome and related disorders. Discussion includes how to assess frequently contradictory recommendations regarding treatment of co-morbid tic disorder and ADHD and/or obsessive compulsive disorder; evaluation of claims made for alternative treatments; new developments in genetic research and their potential therapeutic implications; and the role of behavioral approaches in treating neuropsychiatric disorders.
