Workshop 34 (ticket)
Creating Specialized Services for Early Psychosis in a Real-World Setting: Challenges and Solutions
Learn how one inner-city, university-affiliated public hospital designed specialized services to improve care for adolescents and young adults experiencing their first psychotic episode or who were in the early course of their psychotic illness. Topics include identifying the need for creating specialized early psychosis services in the community, steps taken to redesign services, challenges and hurdles, and staff development. Up-to-date evidence and best practices for treatment of early psychosis are presented. Cardio-metabolic monitoring and management of side effects are discussed. Participants play an active role in the discussions and design a first episode service for their own community.
