Problem-Based Learning in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Problem-based learning (PBL) remains a powerful educational strategy, though one that must fit within the framework of current accreditation requirements and guidelines. This SIG focuses on two issues: the use of media and advanced technologies (e.g., movies, iPad’s, interactive video content, video-teleconferencing) to enhance PBL; and, in view of these technologies, how to discern the core elements of the learning process that define PBL. Participants gain a better understanding of how to implement PBL in child and adolescent psychiatry education, gather concrete ideas on how to improve their teaching programs, learn how to appropriately implement advanced technologies, and understand how to insure accreditation requirements and guidelines are optimally met.
