Workshop 36 (ticket)
Parent Training Workshop, Part 2: Adapting Positive Parenting Strategies to Address More Persistent and Problematic Behaviors
Parent behavioral management training (PBMT) is considered one of the most effective interventions in the treatment of problem behaviors in children and adolescents who have internalizing and externalizing behaviors, as well as autism spectrum disorders, learning problems, and intellectual disabilities. Teaching positive parenting strategies through the implementation of a daily routine addresses childhood problem behaviors by increasing parental monitoring and supervision while interrupting parent-child power struggles and negative reinforcement patterns. This workshop provides practitioners with a single, theoretically straightforward and effective intervention that enhances parental monitoring and supervision.
