Career Pathways for Women in Psychiatry: Mentor and Mentee Selection
Work and personal life balance has been brought to the forefront as a major challenge in the medical profession. For women, this is often amplified by unique expectations, roles, and responsibilities that are put into place when they have children. This SIG provides a unique opportunity for trainees and early career psychiatrists to identify factors that contribute to a successful mentoring relationship; and to connect with mentors who can offer assistance in becoming more aware of the issues and weighing the pros and cons of research, private or community practice, and academic pathways, thus facilitating well-informed career choices for female child and adolescent psychiatrists.
