Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depressed Adolescents (IPT-A): Techniques and Implementation
Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depressed Adolescents (IPT-A) is a 12 to 15-session treatment that focuses on improving depressive symptoms and interpersonal functioning in depressed adolescents. Recent studies have demonstrated that it is an effective treatment for adolescent depression, showing positive outcomes in a variety of settings. Despite these positive findings, many clinicians and researchers remain unfamiliar with IPT-A. Participants in this Workshop gain an understanding of IPT-A, experience hands-on training in the techniques unique to IPT-A, and learn how IPT-A may be used in their own practice setting. This type of training is critical to ensure that there are sufficient mental health professionals equipped to provide this efficacious treatment.
