Workshop 36 (Canceled)
Optimizing the Managed Care “Doc To Doc” For Child Psychiatry Inpatient and Residential Attendings: New Strategies That Work, From the Perspective of Managed Care and Clinical Practice
Inpatient psychiatric hospitalizations have become significantly briefer, with lengths of stay associated with a diminishing number of bed-days covered by third-party payers. Inpatient clinicians must be able to strategize their acute care of patients and translate these efforts into meaningful dialogues with managed care peer reviewers. In this Workshop, participants come to understand inpatient clinical practice from the vantage point of managed care peer reviewers and learn techniques for collaborating with peer reviewers to optimize lengths of stay for more effective clinical care, using both initial reviews and appeals.
