Family-Based Integrated Care in Child Psychiatry: The Evidence Base and Practical Applications
Come be inspired and empowered to use family assessments and interventions regularly as part of your practice. Current research makes it apparent that family interventions are a significant part of most evidence-based practices in child and adolescent mental health. Yet, many child and adolescent psychiatrists practice in settings where there is insufficient time to provide family therapy in the traditional sense. The AACAP Family Committee has gathered seasoned experts in the area of family theory, family assessment, family interventions, and family training to present material that greatly enhances the psychiatrist’s knowledge of family skills and heighten their ability to implement family therapy in their usual practice settings. Participants learn about the evolution of family intervention, explore specific successful evidence-based practices, learn basic skills in family assessment and intervention, delve into specific family techniques applicable to a variety of common diagnostic categories, and are empowered to use a family-centered approach as part of their standard practice.
