Designing and Conducting a Successful Telepsychiatry Program

Child and adolescent psychiatrists improve their telepsychiatry skills and understand how to build effective, enjoyable, and sustainable telepsychiatry practices. The Workshop introduces an effective planning process and technical, staging, and environmental components of an effective telepsychiatry venue. Topics covered include how telepsychiatrists monitor, assess, and use verbal and nonverbal communication skills and strategies; how different types of effective videoconferences are structured and paced; how telepsychiatrists capitalize on opportunities to visit a patient’s home, school, and community; and how telepsychiatrists use collaborative tools during videoconference sessions such as multimedia clips, presentations, and whiteboards.
