Workshop 38 (sold out)
Psychiatric Assessment of the Very Young Child in the Clinic

Early childhood is a critical time for prevention, identification, and intervention to promote health development. AACAP’s Practice Parameters for the Assessment of Infants and Toddlers and standardized structured interviews and assessment tools exist, but much assessment is done by the primary care physician, who may lack training, as well as adequate appointment time, to feel competent to assess very young children. This Workshop introduces practitioners to tools, like the DC: 0-3R™ Axis, which assess the young child's developmental functioning. The goal is to provide participants with the “nuts and bolts” of psychiatric evaluation of young children so they can use them in their own clinical setting.
