Workshop 15 (ticket)
Everything You Need to Know to Run a Best Practice Intensive Outpatient Program for Kids That Is Sustainable in a Managed Care Environment

Child and adolescent mental health services are limited by the availability of specialized, pediatric mental health providers and programs. There is a growing need for creative, cost effective, evidence-based protocols for treating youth with mental illness and their families that can be reliably and broadly disseminated. This Workshop provides strategies for operating an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for youth, and demonstrates parent-training techniques used within an effective manualized service delivery model. The IOP is sustainable in a managed care environment and is applicable across a broad patient population. Attendees observe and then rehearse specific techniques for training families in affect regulation, empathy, assertive communication, and problem-solving.
