Hypnosis as a Psychotherapeutic Facilitator

Hypnosis in the treatment of children and adolescents is a potentially powerful facilitator of therapeutic change; provided a thorough diagnostic assessment and comprehensive treatment formulation have defined the appropriate role hypnosis may play in treatment. The effectiveness of hypnosis as a therapeutic adjunct depends on the capacities of the patient and family to respond to therapeutic suggestions; the severity of pathogenic environmental stressors; and the skill of the therapist in integrating hypnosis with other elements of the treatment plan. Attendees receive an overview of hypnosis as relevant to its clinical indications and application as a facilitating resource.
