Workshop 24 (ticket)
Residential Treatment for Children, Adolescents, and Adults Dually Diagnosed With Mental Health Disorders and Intellectual and Developmental Delays
Traditional residential programming is not meeting the special needs of youth and adults with dually diagnosed mental health disorders and intellectual and developmental delays. This Workshop provides a model for evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with these co-occurring needs. Attendees are presented with examples of assessment tools for Dually Diagnosed youth and adults who are admitted to a residential treatment center; learn about a training model for residential treatment staff and caretakers working with these youth and adults; and have an opportunity to interactively discuss a case, including assessment, formulation, treatment intervention, and progress monitoring.
