Media Theatre 5 (open)
Sir Michael Llewellyn Rutter, CBE, FRS: An Extraordinary Man

This media theatre is a presentation of a 2014, videotaped interview with Professor Sir Michael Llewellyn Rutter, the first professor of child psychiatry in the United Kingdom. He is currently professor of Developmental Psychopathology at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London; and consultant psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital, a post he has held since 1966. As he relates his personal story, participants understand the seminal contributions Sir Michael Rutter has made to child and adolescent psychiatry’s global mandate of research, clinical practice, and advocacy across the lifespan; are exposed to his influence on topics that have had transformative impact in the field; and come to better appreciate how an involvement in issues of the larger scientific community has the potential to enrich each individual practitioner's practice and influence.
