Preventing the Use of Restraint and Seclusion
This SIG provides a forum relevant to clinicians and administrators, reviewing of changes in philosophy and practice regarding the use of restraint and seclusion. It presents an introduction to creating a restraint prevention initiative. This venue provides a forum to collaborate with colleagues working on similar projects and to explore best practices in preventing the use of restraint and seclusion. Participants discuss successful strategies, as well as difficult challenges, in preventing the use of restraint and seclusion in various clinical settings, including inpatient, residential treatment, school and juvenile justice settings.
