Acknowledge, Confront, and Eliminate (ACE) Child and Adolescent Mental Health Disparities
Disparities in health care based on race and ethnicity are well documented. Presenters review the concepts of health disparities and health equity, describe trends in United States ethnicity data, review the historical context of health disparities, identify major health disparities in the psychiatric care of children and adolescents, explore potential contributors to racial or ethnic health disparities, review psychiatric conditions that contain elements of mistrust, discuss the relationship between racial and cultural attitudes and the quality of care, explore culturally adapted psychotherapeutic approaches, and provide a blueprint and specific recommendations for integration of cultural competency and disparities education into training programs.
