Assessing and Treating Organizational Skills Deficits in ADHD: Guidance in Providing an Empirically Tested Method
Children with ADHD also may demonstrate impairing levels of problems with organization, time management, and planning at home and at school. Participants receive information on methods for identifying children with these impairments. A large randomized clinical trial that investigated the impact of two methods for treating these deficits is presented. Specific instruction is given on the behavioral treatment method used to build skills through instruction for children, guidance for parents in using behavior management principles, and guidance for teachers in prompting skill use in specific school situations. Adaptations for using the intervention with middle school and high school students are provided.
