Workshop 11 (sold out)
Mentalization-Based Therapy for Adolescent Self-Harm
Mentalizing-based treatment (MBT) therapy provides clinicians with a conceptually sound and empirically supported approach to working with adolescents and their families when adolescent disturbances of self, affect, and impulse regulation are factors. This Workshop discusses the mentalizing framework, explains how to assess mentalizing strengths and impairments, and demonstrates how mentalization theory translates into effective practices for adolescents who engage in self-harming behaviors. Participants receive hands-on experience with the MBT approach through practice of specific psychotherapuetic skills designed to engage self-harming adolescents.
