Inpatient Psychiatry: Building a Quality Improvement Program Through Leadership and Culture Change
Quality improvement is an important competency of child and adolescent psychiatry clinical leaders, but many clinicians are unfamiliar with quality improvement principles and their application to psychiatric inpatient and residential programs. Participants learn basic concepts of quality improvement and the successes that result from its application; and understand key requirements for the successful launch and maintenance of quality improvement projects in child and adolescent psychiatry settings. Principles, such as use of culture change, team building, clinical data management, process, and outcome measures are demonstrated. There is an opportunity to apply these principles to a quality improvement project of choice and develop a plane for implementation.
