Workshop 34 (sold out)
Meditative Interventions in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
The use of meditation in the clinical setting has gained wide acceptance among physicians, psychologists, and mental health workers in recent years. This Workshop looks specifically at the meditative interventions being studied in child and adolescent psychiatry. The following meditative methods are discussed in detail: mindfulness and mindfulness-based stress reduction practices; Transcendental Mediation in the clinical setting; and the evolution of behavioral cognitive therapies, focusing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitively-Based Compassion Training. Participants are guided through introductory meditation practices and/or exercises related to the four meditative interventions discussed above.
